The programme is based within and around professional outdoor centres giving our leaners a unique, bespoke and alternative educational experience away from the traditional school/college learning environment.
We believe that everyone can progress and achieve. Our aim is to facilitate this through our high quality education course, developmental leadership skills and bespoke outdoor & adventurous activities.
Learners will partake in a range of outdoor and adventurous activities whilst studying for a BTEC Level 2-3 in Sport (Outdoor Adventure, equivalent to 3 A Level’s) and gaining nationally recognised outdoor sector, specific coaching qualifications.
Alongside the practical aspect of the course, individuals will learn in a classroom based environment with units including anatomy & physiology, leadership in sport, exercise & health and sports event management. This will progress learners onto higher level qualifications, university, an apprenticeship and employment. This course is ideal for anyone interested in a career in sport, outdoor education, adventure coaching, public services and the armed forces. The programme allows learners to study and train within a professional outdoor sport environment and work alongside professional, fully qualified coaches and teachers.
Our aim is to manage and develop the next generation of young sports teachers, coaches and instructors for the local area and passport them into higher education, training and employment. We also want to continue the legacy and success of the Olympic Games at a local level particularly from the success of water based sports such as rowing, sailing and windsurfing.
It’s a well-known fact that outdoor activities are an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain invaluable skills and qualities that they are able to use in their daily lives. By engaging in a variety of team and individual activities throughout the programme it will develop the learners’ communication skills, encourage cohesion, problem solving, resilience, self-esteem and confidence. The outdoor centres offer first class facilities and students will take part in a range of adventure sports on land and water and work towards National Governing Body coaching awards. Students will also work towards their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
TVS and LEAD Education will provide a unique balance of practical and theoretical based learning where groups are taught through classroom lectures, practical sports, group discussions and portfolio work. Learners will also have a unique opportunity to undertake work experience in a variety of outdoor and adventure settings throughout the UK.
